SBC-4 is my latest design in the growing SBC series. It will have a modular layout consisting of a base board holding the microprocessor, memory, and serial terminal interface and an expansion port. Smaller daughter boards will connect through the expansion port providing more I/O options.
The goal behind this modular design is to provide a system with just the I/O options needed for each individual and therefore reducing the overall cost for that system. The daughter boards can be stacked on top of the main board or placed next to it. Interconnections can be accomplished through special stacking connectors, ribbon cables, or by using a backplane.
SBC-4 Plus (SBC-4P) will have a 65C816 Microprocessor and 512K of RAM, expandable to 4.5MB, a serial terminal interface, and the expansion port. There will be multiple ways to load the SRAM with the software of your choice. This system is more advanced than my previous SBC's and will be a very powerful platform with many applications possible.
